Buckhead Penthouse

This penthouse, at the top of one of the newest residential high-rise buildings in Buckhead, features two-story windows with a sweeping view of Atlanta. Stewart Mohr Designs completely redesigned this unit from the ground up — revising the existing floorplan, repositioning the stairs and completely changing all of the original finishes, to create a comfortable and stylish Atlanta residence.

Chattahoochee Estate

Covering seven acres on the Chattahoochee River, this estate was redesigned inside and out to create a home for a busy family of six. The outside pool area, lakefront guest house, garage apartment and extensive gardens all became part of the home. The grand staircase is truly the center of the house — a custom-designed light fixture drops more than 26 feet through three stories, setting the tone for the modern but comfortable style of the home’s family. ...

Midtown Traditional

Located in the heart of Midtown, in one of Atlanta’s original residential high rises, this residence is actually two units, combined to make a seamless larger home. Furnishings include family loved antiques, an art collector’s love of modern art and items purchased on the homeowner’s many world travels. The home’s layout allows larger areas for entertainment, while still maintaining intimate, private retreat areas.

Atlanta Penthouse

The interior spaces of this Atlanta, Georgia, penthouse provide a canvas for the homeowner’s collection of primitive artifacts, monochrome prints and colorful paintings. Art from Africa and Eastern cultures gives this home a rich diversity. The owners wanted a contemporary yet classical, clean-lined look — to keep the focus on the art, they didn’t want a décor that was too expressive or fussy. Rather than use decorative patterns to provide contrast, Stewart Mohr Designs used honest materials that are rich and diverse in both color and texture.

Art Collector’s Home

This unit, located in a modern glass high rise in Atlanta’s prestigious Buckhead community, is home to the client’s vast art collection. Stewart Mohr Designs developed a neutral color palette for the unit, and kept ornamentation simple so that the art is what stands out. Wall space was critical in the design — quite a challenge with so many floor-to-ceiling windows. SMD met the challenge and made this a home, not a museum.

Bachelor High-Rise

Cool, Sleek, Contemporary and Masculine are all words that come to mind for this young client’s first home in the heart of Buckhead. Located on the 46th floor, facing downtown Atlanta, this unit is very dramatic, especially at night. By removing walls and relocating the fireplace to open the main living room, and using natural materials like wood and stone, Stewart Mohr Designs has created a one-of-a-kind unit in this popular building.

Mountain Home

This mountain getaway home north of Atlanta, Georgia, features many custom elements designed by Stewart Mohr Designs to showcase the client’s art glass collection. We worked closely with the client, architect and builder from the preliminary design stage. The curved entry wall is covered in leather tiles and defines the entrance foyer as well as creating an art focal point — the staircase was designed to appear as if floating, supported by a rhododendron plant sculpted from bronze. These were just a few of SMD’s artistic touches that make this home a showcase. ...

421 Blackland

Stewart Mohr Designs furnished this home with a nod to the great Chicago homes of the early 20th century. The home is loaded with unique details, including custom-designed gallery handrails with glass inserts, one-of-a-kind lighting fixtures, and a state-of-the-art home theatre system. Although this is a new home, this house appears that it has been in place for many decades. This house was designed for a real estate speculator and is currently on the market with Sotheby's Fine Homes.
